Velcom revamps its data warehousing

Belarus mobile telecommunications operator Velcom has selected an active enterprise data warehouse from data warehousing and enterprise architecture company, Teradata, says Reuters.

"Bringing Teradata enterprise data warehouse technology to Belarus is an important step toward modernising Velcom's enterprise architecture. Faster and better understanding of market trends will help Velcom satisfy customers through the timely introduction of new services," saysYuri Koren, head of the IT division at Velcom.

Velcom is implementing a multi-node Teradata warehouse, running on a Linux operating system. With this technology investment, Velcom will gain a single view of its business and give employees instant access to business information.

Red Rock takes over Glue

UXC subsidiary Red Rock Consulting has acquired Sydney-based IT specialist consultancy, Glue, to broaden its service oriented architecture (SOA) offerings, states ARN.

Red Rock CEO, Jonathan Rubinsztein, says: “A key difference is they [Glue] bring to bear a very strong capability around the enterprise architecture and methodological layer. They have a lot of strength in that area and we have a lot of strength in the delivery area.”

Glue will be marketed under the Red Rock brand and the joint entity's head count expanded by 30 to 40 people within the next six months.
