Open Text buys Hummingbird
Open Text, an enterprise content management (ECM) software vendor, will acquire one of its competitors, Hummingbird, for about $489 million.
IT News Online reports the Open Text board of directors has unanimously approved the transaction and Hummingbird`s board is unanimously recommending that shareholders vote in favour of the transaction.
"With its historic presence in the legal and government verticals, Hummingbird is a strategic fit with our focus on ECM solutions aimed at vertical markets and regulatory compliance," says John Shackleton, president and CEO of Open Text.
Eighth XHTML 2.0 working draft published
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) HTML Working Group has released the eighth public working draft of "XHTML 2.0".
"A general purpose mark-up language without presentation elements, XHTML 2 is designed for representing documents for a wide range of purposes across the Web," explains The Gilbane Report.
Netfirms releases CMS
Web hosting provider Netfirms has announced it has added the Joomla! content management system to its suite of software tools. Netfirms hosting customers can install Joomla! from the Web site control panel.
"Joomla! offers feature application framework allowing create add-ons and extensions. Some examples of available extensions include dynamic form builders, business directories, document management, multimedia galleries, forums and chat software, and calendars," writes WebHostingInfo.
