Compute Corporate Technology Solutions has been appointed SA`s first reseller of OpenHand Software solutions.
OpenHand, explains Compute sales executive Phillip Boonzaaier, is a mobile e-mail solution that enables real-time remote access, which does not rely on synchronisation, offering more security to users.
He believes the South African small and medium enterprise (SME) market is maturing and is keenly picking up on the mobile solutions hype.

"However, there are always security concerns and clients are often disappointed with the quality of mobile devices that are available."
He adds that OpenHand is compatible with most smartphones, personal digital assistants and laptops, so there is no need to purchase dedicated mobile devices with limited functionality.
"OpenHand is a product for the new generation of business people requiring mobile solutions to ensure maximum efficiency. It`s not only a real-time access to your e-mail, but also to your diary, contacts, tasks and public folder documents - without the need for synchronisation.
"Data is not stored on the mobile device, which is a risk being more and more acknowledged by different sectors, particularly legal, health and finance," Boonzaaier notes, adding that the solution allows for immediate access to all e-mail and information in public folders.
Therefore, he says, if a mobile device is stolen or lost, a company`s data is not at risk.
Version 4.0 of OpenHand will be launched next month, and the technology has already been widely accepted within the corporate sector in SA, Boonzaaier claims.
