Oracle certifies local database solutions provider

Unihold Database Solutions (UDBS), a subsidiary of Unihold, has attained formal certification to provide database sales, services and support for Oracle relational database management systems (RDBMSs).

Johan Lamberts, MD of UDBS, says the appointment positions the company as South Africa`s premier database solutions provider on the Oracle platform. "Our mission is to allow our customers to focus on their core businesses by outsourcing the maintenance and administration of their databases to us". "This entails 24x7 monitoring, remote diagnostics, access to a help desk and management of database resources," he says. "Couple that with pre-sales, sales and consulting services and you have a organisation that can take its clients through the full cycle of RDBMS implementations and maintenance."

Kelvin Reynolds, National Accounts Country Manager for Oracle, says certification of UDBS represents acknowledgement by Oracle EMEA that local service database provision is up to the standards required by the company globally.

"The endorsement means that customers dealing with Unihold can be certain they are doing so with the full backing of Oracle. It is indicative of our confidence that UDBS has the skills and resources to do the job the way it should be done."

Kelvin Reynolds, says the appointment is in line with Oracle`s global to focus on quality rather than quantity. "UDBS is one of few Oracle partners that is solely database focused and is not involved at an application level.

"This provides a necessary level of detachment when dealing with problems not necessarily related to the RDBMS itself."
