Oracle debuts NoSQL database
Tech World reports.
According to eWeek, the company said the Oracle NoSQL database is available for download on the Oracle Technology Network.
The new database software will also be a key component of the Oracle Big Data Appliance, which will be shipped in the first three months of 2012, Oracle noted.
The Oracle NoSQL Database is based, in part, on the open source BerkeleyDB database, which Oracle gained through its Sleepycat Software acquisition in 2006.
Information Week quotes Marie-Anne Neimat, VP of database development at Oracle, as saying: "We've tested the database across multiple hundreds of nodes and it scales very well.
"It's targeted at customers who need the scalability to do things like track Web click-throughs, smart-meter data, network management, or personalisation."
