Oracle Europe, Middle East, Africa reports continued customer adoption for fiscal year 2009

Johannesburg, 08 Jul 2009

Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) reported continued customer adoption of its product offerings in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region across a wide range of industry sectors during fiscal year 2009 and the fourth quarter 2009.

The EMEA region reported revenue of $7.9 billion in US GAAP basis for the fiscal year 2009 (ended 31 May 2009). Fourth quarter GAAP revenue for the EMEA region was $2.4 billion.

Within the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, organisations continue to adopt or expand implementations of Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management and Oracle Business Intelligence, and Oracle Applications for their strategic company-wide business systems.

“Throughout the last quarter and fiscal year 2009 we have expanded our base of world-class customers, while also providing increased value to our existing customers,” said Lo"ic le Guisquet, Executive Vice-President Oracle EMEA.

“Companies large and small, in both commercial and public sectors, and across a wide span of industries depend on Oracle to help support their business over a wide range of strategies: from short-term efficiency improvements, through business flexibility, to long-term market growth. With more customers leveraging Oracle's entire product stack - applications, middleware and database - we are seeing them deliver tighter integration with greater flexibility, and lower ownership costs in their businesses.”

"Vodafone aims to stay one step ahead of the competition through a strategy that is focused on customer value enhancement and pursuing growth opportunities through the provision of market-leading mobile data, fixed broadband and enterprise solutions, as well as through the delivery of greater efficiencies across the business. By choosing Oracle as a strategic enterprise software partner to consolidate and standardise its IT infrastructure, Vodafone will further improve the efficiency of the business and increase its agility to respond to ever-changing market conditions and the needs of its customers."

These modules will be integrated with Oracle Financials already working in the company since 2008. "The biggest disadvantage of our previous warehouse managing system was its lack of up-to-date information. Because all relevant documents were filed into the system with several days delay, the necessary analytics were performed rather rarely. In the new Oracle solution, all changes in our warehouse are being made online - this will give to our analysts greater business insight every moment it is needed,” said Jaroslaw Kowalski, IT Director, PKP Intercity.

In a hospital it is especially important that patients are attended to immediately, rather than having to wait for service due to any technical difficulties. Since the implementation of Oracle Data Guard, this has not happened, and our clients are able to rely on us with trust every day of the week," said Dr Istv'an Szilv'asy, director general of 'Allami Eg'eszs'eg"ugyi K"ozpont (State Health Centre).
