Oracle gets to the bottom of ACCPAC

Johannesburg, 23 Apr 2002

ACCPAC Africa has announced that the ACCPAC Advantage Series accounting and operations suite now includes full support for the Oracle relational database management system (RDBMS).

Jeremy Waterman, MD of ACCPAC Africa, says the announcement addresses growing demand in the global mid-market for comprehensive and scalable business management solutions that offer organisations a strategic edge in managing their finances. "Because of the associated platform, education and maintenance costs involved, companies are understandably reluctant to deploy multiple RDBMSs."

Craig Dawson, business development manager: sales channel at Oracle SA, comments: "This announcement means that the thousands of existing Oracle Database users can now deploy Advantage Series on their preferred database -- something that was only previously possible by rolling out IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase."

Waterman says ACCPAC Advantage Series and the Oracle Database deliver a scalable and cost-efficient business management system to mid-market companies.

ACCPAC Advantage Series supports the Oracle Database on any of the leading platforms, ranging from Microsoft Windows 9x and NT/2000 to Linux, Solaris and other Unix and mainframe systems.

"The Oracle Database enables cost-effective development and deployment of Internet-based solutions for accounting, human resources and customer relationship management and also includes native support for technologies such as Java, XML and SQL. Additionally, support for the Oracle Internet File System permits fast and easy storage and manipulation of MS Word documents, Excel files, e-mail, multimedia, XML files, and Web pages," he notes.

ACCPAC Advantage Series Enterprise Edition is available from authorised ACCPAC Solution Providers globally.
