Oracle Corporation, the world`s largest enterprise software company, today announced several new additions to the Oracle Self-Service Human Resources module of the Oracle E-Business Suite, designed to reduce HR administrative demands with easier to use and configure self-service HR applications.
The additions include new self-service capabilities for employees, managers and HR professionals; a significantly improved configuration framework that allows customers to tailor the application to their business needs without costly customisations; and an improved user interface to further reduce training requirements. These enhancements complement the many existing Oracle Self-Service Human Resources (HR) capabilities that have been deployed at hundreds of customer sites, including Best Buy Company, Inc, Agilera and William Beaumont Hospital.
The latest additions to Oracle Self-Service HR allow managers and employees to administer group compensation allocations, request rewards or entitlements for employees, manage voluntary deduction elections, approve leave requests and perform self-service hiring of employees. Furthermore, additional self-service localisations have been delivered to expand global workforce management.
These new functions have been delivered on top of Oracle`s extensive configuration framework, which allows customers to further tailor the applications to their organisational preferences. Customers can add or remove fields, re-organise page layouts, modify colours, content and labels and add tips and instructions for immediate help. The improved user interface to Oracle`s HR applications further reduces training requirements for employees, managers and HR representatives.
As one of the main pillars of business-to-employee (B2E) applications, self-service functionality results in reduced costs, improved service to the workforce, promotes ownership of data and processes, and improves data accuracy. "We are seeing a clear trend toward companies adopting the integrated B2E functionality offered by the enterprise resource planning (ERP) and human resources management system (HRMS) vendors," states senior analyst Paul Hamerman of Giga Information Group in a February 2002 planning assumption report titled "B2E Is Entering a More Advanced Phase as Adoption Continues to Accelerate".
The new enhancements to Oracle Self-Service HR build on its existing functionality that enables employees to view and update personal information, manage benefits elections, view and update payroll details, enrol in training opportunities, view employment, compensation, training and absence history. Managers have capabilities to manage employment transactions, conduct performance appraisals, manage training enrolments, view employment data for their organisation, manage compensation programmes in addition to others - all on a global basis.
"Oracle Self-Service Human Resources is an excellent tool for optimising the use of the human assets of any company," said Joel Summers, Oracle senior vice president, HRMS Development. "Earlier versions of Oracle Self-Service Human Resources created better service, more cost savings and increased data accuracy for companies in their HR processes. These latest enhancements now provide deeper and more robust capabilities for our users. With self-service applications people are motivated to update information that is relevant to their career and work, and in turn the business as a whole benefits from improved data accuracy, relevance and timeliness. This means that the business can vastly improve the quality of its decision-making about human assets."
