At the Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG) Conference, Oracle Corporation announced the Business Intelligence System, an easy-to-use intranet application that finds and delivers information from Oracle Applications to provide fast answers to the tough questions facing business managers and executives as they run their organizations. The Business Intelligence System is part of Oracle Applications Release 11 introduced today at the Oracle Applications User Group Conference in San Diego, California. The Business Intelligence System application provides a set of performance indicators that address fundamental business issues in an organization. Oracle Applications Release 11 includes specific performance indicators covering critical business activities such as financial management, human resources, manufacturing, sales, marketing and customer service. A company can use the Business Intelligence System to quickly generate meaningful reports, analyze corporate performance and ultimately make decisions to improve operations. Examples of the Business Intelligence System performance indicators and the questions they address include: * Capacity utilization-How much can I grow sales before outgrowing manufacturing capacity? What should I outsource first to postpone building a new plant? * Procurement-Who are my most efficient suppliers? How much can I save by consolidating to my best suppliers? * Time and expense analysis-Why have my expenses increased in a particular region? * Customers-Which customers should I target for sale of a brand new product? * Campaign efficiency-Which marketing programs have been most cost-effective and why? * Training-How well are my training programs paying off? How has training affected productivity? * Cash forecasting-What are my anticipated cash inflows and outflows by currency? Should I change my short-term currency holdings as a result? Business Intelligence Made Easy for Business Managers Business Intelligence System is designed as an easy-to-use, "self-service" application tailored to the needs of managers and executives. To access the performance indicators, users need only point their web browser at the appropriate web address set up on the company`s intranet. The graphical interface makes it easy to select the appropriate indicator and the system allows users to "drill down" into successive levels of detail, depending on the level of information needed. Oracle is the only vendor able to provide these and other relevant performance metrics as a preconfigured, standard feature of its applications by leveraging the closely integrated nature and breadth of its applications products and its expertise in sophisticated database and data analysis technologies. "But that`s what traditional business applications have provided. We`re changing the model to help managers understand why a given situation exists and how to most appropriately respond." The Business Intelligence System also allows organizations to easily customize the indicators to their particular situation and quickly create new indicators on their own using standard Oracle tools and reports.
