Oracle launches new Collaboration Suite

Johannesburg, 08 Jan 2003

Oracle Corp has introduced Oracle Collaboration Suite Release 2 together with two new services designed to attract customers to what it says is "the most reliable, secure and cost-effective e-mail infrastructure available".

Positioned at less than half the price of competing collaboration products, the new Oracle release introduces real-time communication features, including online meetings, instant messaging and co-browsing, integrated with the other components of the suite, to deliver business productivity benefits.

For customers wanting to switch to the new software from competitive offerings, Oracle is offering a low-cost migration service.

Oracle has also announced the immediate availability of hosted collaboration services - Oracle Collaboration Suite Outsourcing - relieving customers of the need to provide system and management support.

"One of the most compelling benefits of Oracle Collaboration Suite lies in its ability to provide security, availability and cost savings for the enterprise versus today`s departmental solutions - without requiring any change for the end-user," says Charles Rozwat, executive vice-president, Server Technologies, at Oracle.

"As Oracle Collaboration Suite integrates with Microsoft Outlook and other interfaces, end-users don`t have to change their collaboration behaviour and can recognise immediate productivity benefits resulting from Oracle`s Unbreakable software infrastructure and new real-time collaboration features."
