Oracle SA has unveiled a channel initiative aimed at helping partners develop specialised skills to improve customer service and support black economic empowerment (BEE).
The initiative is based on the principle of focusing partners on specialist technology or industry sectors to deliver complete solutions rather than individual products.
"This strategy means we can structure our support team to give access to the full range of technical, business, consulting and industry expertise to enable partners to comply with BEE regulations and maximise sales opportunities," says Ike Ngwena, director of alliances and channels for Oracle SA.
As part of the channel partner initiative, Oracle has recruited a skills development manager to analyse and identify gaps in partner skill sets on an ongoing basis and provide relevant training or resources where necessary.
Oracle says channel managers within the company will also be focused on specific vertical markets and technology areas to provide partners in those areas with the knowledge they require.
The initiative will also include investment planning advice and support for sales, marketing and lead generation.
"Using scorecards we hope to be able to assess where our partners are achieving results and also look for areas where they can further develop best practices," says Ngwena.
Oracle also plans to apply the scorecard model to help partners extend BEE credentials or comply with regulatory requirements by assisting with skills development through existing training and internship programmes.
