Business Software company Oracle Corporation has released a new iteration of its supply chain management software set which emphasises collaboration and a closed loop plan-execute-measure-improve process. The solution includes advanced planning and procurement.
A component of Oracle E-Business Suite, the latest version of the supply chain solution provides an enhanced Oracle Advanced Planning module that extends supply chain collaboration and provides greater business intelligence capabilities.
A key feature of the solution is the ability to plan supply chain as well as manufacturing plants within a single module. "This enhancement was made on the back of feedback from Oracle`s existing E-Business Suite customer base," says Oracle South Africa marketing director Marc Gower.
The combined feature also provides granularity down to any level of detail in terms of timing, resource detail, items and so on. Within each segment the inclusion or exclusion of constraints can be controlled.
"This means that a single plan is generated, but includes schedules at any level, both in the short and long term," he says.
"Instead of multiple planning engines with multiple data models, we have a single unified planning engine with a single unified or common data model.
"As a result, instead of having a supply chain model, a manufacturing model, and a detailed scheduling model, each of which have to be maintained independently, you get a single model of the supply chain that encompasses all the detail and is maintained only once," says Gower.
