Oracle South Africa today announced that Kelvin Reynolds will become its new managing director on 1 June 2003. Reynolds, currently Public Sector sales director at Oracle, will succeed Robin Morello, whose two-year assignment will end on 31 May.
Reynolds has been active in the IT industry for more than 20 years. He joined Oracle South Africa in 1999, and has held senior managerial positions with the responsibility for driving sales in Oracle`s partner network, and later in the public sector.
Morello`s tenure at Oracle South Africa has seen the company grow its business significantly in the country. "My task at Oracle South Africa was to establish a solid foundation for further growth and to ensure that Oracle`s structure and organisation would be relevant within the context of South Africa`s unique needs, both commercial and societal.
"It was always the Corporation`s intention to appoint a South African into the position of managing director once my two-year tenure came to an end," says Morello. "It is highly gratifying to be able to select, from within Oracle South Africa, a highly experienced and capable leader who can take the organisation successfully into the future.
"Oracle South Africa has become a very strong player in the South African market, and I am confident that Kelvin will drive further growth from this position of strength."
Morello will move back to Oracle`s regional head office in the UK, and will retain South Africa as one of his areas of managerial responsibility.
