Oracle to acquire Phase Forward
Oracle says it is looking to acquire Phase Forward in a cash deal worth $685 million, states Information Week.
The acquisition is consistent with Oracle's strategy of adding complementary assets to its Oracle Health Sciences division. The database company predicts the software-as-a-service from Phase Forward will help its life science customers capture, access and share data securely.
"Oracle's purchase of Phase Forward provides the database giant with access to InForm, an electronic data capture solution which is among the best in the industry," says Alan Louie, research director at IDC Health Insights.
HP challenges Cisco dominance
HP says it aims to challenge Cisco's dominance of the enterprise networking market with its acquisition of 3Com, writes eWeek.
HP executives pointed to the company's strong presence in the fast-growing Chinese market, and HP's dedication to open architecture and commitment to open standards.
“The industry is at an inflection point, working with a fragile networking infrastructure,” says Marius Haas, HP networking division. “Networks are hard to manage, vulnerable to attacks and expensive to maintain. This ends today.”
Enfora receives IBM certification
Enfora revealed it has achieved Ready for IBM Tivoli certification with its Services Gateway Maximo Enterprise Adatpter for IBM's Maximo Asset Management software, says Earth Times.
IBM Maximo users can define business rules and logic for how and when an asset should report. It can also track mobile assets with access to location information, status and monitoring alerts for movement, geofencing, reporting and battery levels in devices.
The certification assures that Services Gateway MEA has been validated to meet IBM's compatibility criteria and has successfully been integrated with the IBM Maximo Asset Management product.
