Oracle unveils VM VirtualBox 4.0

Further enhancing its open source, cross-platform virtualisation software, Oracle has released its VM VirtualBox 4.0, says News Center.

The company says this is part of its portfolio of virtualisation solutions. Oracle VM VirtualBox enables desktop or laptop computers to run multiple guest operating systems simultaneously, allowing users to get the most flexibility and utilisation out of their PCs, and supports a variety of host operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, most popular flavours of Linux (including Oracle Linux), and Oracle Solaris.

Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.0 delivers increased capacity and throughput to handle greater workloads, enhanced virtual appliance capabilities, and significant usability improvements.

According to the SME Times, the past 12 months have seen virtualisation solutions being used by a huge variety of companies, and this trend is likely to continue in 2011.
