Oracle upgrades BI suite

During this week's Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle released an upgrade to Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) applications, reports Integration Developer News.

The new release expands integration with Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and adds to better manage projects, and spending. The Oracle BI Applications latest upgrade (Release 7.9.6.2) adds a new adapter that integrates the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Supply Chain Planning and Order Management modules with Oracle Supply Chain and Order Management Analytics.

The integration provides JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Supply Chain Planning and Order Management users with timely and accurate insight into order and inventory data. Oracle also introduced certifications for the Oracle E-Business Suite (R12.1.2) and Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise (9.1).

Bad e-mail BI backfires

New research has found that some brands' poorly-targeted marketing initiatives are angering consumers, 73% of whom believe companies will e-mail them anything, regardless of its relevance, says Enqui-Media.

The knock-on effect of this is that 52% of consumers treat all marketing messages in their inbox as spam, a TNS survey, commissioned by analytics vendor Kognitio, revealed. Of the 2 031 respondents, 59% indicated that they wanted more stringent legislation on e-mail marketing.

But there was a bright side to the findings, as 64% of the survey's participants said they would engage with e-mail marketing if it was properly targeted.

BI talk show to air soon

Pramod Kunju, founder and CEO of Nakunj, a BI services company has released what it says is a first-of-its-kind BI talk show in India, writes PR Web.

This talk show will cover concepts in BI. Kunju, known as the 'data warehouse guru' among customers and colleagues says: "Individuals and corporations have a real interest in learning more about business intelligence, and how it can help them make better business decisions.”

He adds that the talk show will help companies leverage the power of BI for strategic and tactical advantages.
