Oracle9i database release 2 breaks new world record for large-scale data warehousing implementations

Johannesburg, 02 Jul 2002

Oracle, the world`s largest enterprise company, today announced a new world record-breaking performance and price performance warehousing TPC-H three-terabyte benchmark result for Oracle9i Database Release 2 on a 72-processor 900 MHz Sun Fire 15K server.

Delivering more performance with 44 percent less hardware than IBM DB2 on HP, this new world record offers customers the best price at 32 percent less cost per QphH@3000GB. Oracle9i on Sun also outperforms NCR Teradata`s best three-terabyte result by 29 percent using 44 percent less hardware and costs 80 percent less per QphH@3000GB.

Building on a long history of performance world records, this new world-record result demonstrates the speed and processing power of Oracle`s award-winning database and demonstrates why more customers continue choose Oracle`s database to run their large-scale data warehousing implementations. Not only does Oracle9i Database Release 2 deliver better performance using half the number of processing power, it also delivers the best price performance over its nearest competitors.
