One Technology Group`s move into their specially designed premises in the Western Cape has not only increased their manufacturing capabilities but also shown a dramatic increase in their market share in the region.

The Cape Town branch of OTG is the result of the merger of PCE Electronics and in the Western Cape. This merger saw the creation of a new manufacturing facility specifically designed for the manufacture of the Vision brand of PCs, notebooks and servers. It is located in Montague Gardens, ten minutes from the Cape Town CBD.

"The merger effectively doubled our staff numbers and manufacturing capability," says Craig Nowitz, director of OTG in the Western Cape.

"The new 3 500m2 facility has the capability to produce 2 500 PCs per month, making it the biggest operation of this kind in the area" says Nowitz.

"All areas of our new facility are environmentally, as well as statically controlled. The floors are made of a conductor material to alleviate the problem of static during PC assembly," says Nowitz. Static build-up and discharge is often one of the mojor causes of PC component failure in the assembly process.

Other Hi-tech advancements that have been added to the building include a 24-hour burn-in facility for all machines coming off the assembly line. "Testing the integrity of our machines before they leave our floor has helped to improve the quality of the Vision units we ship immeasurably," says Nowitz.

Additional improvements have also been made, not only in the quality and quantity of product manufactured, but also in infrastructure. "Our delivery fleet has been doubled in size to ensure we have enough vehicles to deliver our products to our customers," says Nowitz.

Getting units into the market is one thing, but ensuring they spend as much time performing the tasks they were bought to do, is often quite another. "The workshop capabilities have been improved to ensure a 24-hour turnaround time on machines for repair and we also have the capabilities of board-level repair on equipment from this site."

, a major concern for distributors globally, has been stepped up. CCTV is installed throughout the OTG Western Cape premises, further reducing the loss of stock.

An interactive demo facility has also been established at the new premises, allowing dealers to demonstrate new technology and products to prospective clients.

Nowitz expects this facility to see increased use as new market sectors open to OTG in the Western Cape. "Our market is expanding to include and government sectors with the added benefit we can deliver to these clients through the Siltek Group of companies and offerings," he concludes.
