Outsourced call centres bill revealed
Senator Charles Schumer is trying to pass a bill where companies need to disclose when their calls are being transferred outside of the US, reveals Short News.
The initiative hopes to reduce the number of jobs that companies outsource to other countries by taxing transferred customer service calls.
"This bill will not only serve to maintain call centre jobs currently in the US, but also provide a reason for companies that have already outsourced jobs to bring them back," says Schumer.
Aegis to hire 11 000
Aegis says it intends to hire 11 000 people in the fiscal year 2010-11, states The Financial Express.
It plans to hire 50% of the resources from outside India, as the company says it has witnessed a pick up in demand from the emerging market, as well as onshore markets.
“This year, we would be hiring about 11 000 employees, of which about 50% would be located outside India,” says Aparup Sengupta, MD and global CEO of Aegis
Jordan unveils outsourcing programme
A new programme: 'Turn to Jordan... your smart shore destination' is expected to see the outsourcing business reach $200 million by the end of 2011, states The Jordan Times.
The programme, a joint public-private sector venture, seeks to attract investments to the sector to encourage the opening of businesses in the outsourcing sector.
"Outsourcing is the best sector that can be used to recruit the skilled Jordanians. It is a golden opportunity for securing jobs for Jordanians," says Laith Qasem, chief of the USAID-SABEQ party.
