Business consultancy Ovations today launched its SAP and management practice offering, in response to the needs of financial services clients.

Ovations identified a gap in the SAP and risk management specialised service partnerships in SA, says Thys Bruwer, newly appointed director of the group`s SAP and risk management practice.

Ovations aims to be a respected in this space, he says, and believes the key differentiator will be to employ and retain the best minds in the business.

The company plans to be a SAP service partner and risk management service partner within the next five years, Bruwer explains. It will particularly target the financial services industry, where companies are increasingly faced with various local and international , such as FICA, FAIS, Sarbanes-Oxley and Basel II.

To achieve this, the company will invest in the training and certification of its consultants to ensure they have the necessary skills in financial services implementations, he says.

Customers require guidance and consultancy regarding the appropriate measures that have to be taken to ensure they comply with the regulations being enforced.

"Becoming a full service partner means that we will be trusted to provide strategy, design, delivery and support to SAP and risk management projects," he said.

"We have identified a SAP and risk management practice as complementary to our focus on performance improvement, which incorporates process, content, integration, process intelligence and change management," says Gys Human, MD of Ovations.

Hand in hand with the compliance focus, companies in the financial services industry are also seeing an increase in the consolidation of back-end systems and infrastructure, Human notes.

"This is being driven by enterprises moving away from operating in silos, towards a process enterprise, whereby a single customer view becomes a reality. We, therefore, see SAP and risk management as an integral component in the performance improvement mix."
