Bytes Document Solutions, wholly owned by JSE-listed Altron Group, has teamed up with electronic records company, Paper 2 Digital Storage Solutions (P2Dss) to jointly bring consultation services, electronic records management systems and archive scanning to their customers.
Shiona Blundell, Bytes divisional manager, communications and business process outsourcing, says: “The strategy behind partnering with P2Dss is that it will allow us to take a unique end-to-end document life cycle offering to the market.”
According to Blundell, information and records management executives are under pressure to implement corporate-wide electronic records management systems (ERMS) in response to laws demanding corporate accountability and transparency.
“As a result, they are asking more from their ERMS systems than ever before, but a poor electronic document and records management system can result in organisational inefficiency, poor customer service and soaring overheads, wasting time and money.”
She adds that local enterprises, both in the private and public sectors, are only starting to realise the implications of legislation and compliance.
Dawid Jacobs, CEO of P2Dss, notes that the partnership aims to drive technology to digitise paper-based documents into tamperproof electronic documents that can be easily retrieved within seconds.
According to research firm IDC, worldwide revenue from public IT cloud services is forecast to reach $55.5 billion in 2014, more than double what it is today. Gartner says public IT cloud services have emerged as the number one technology priority for 2011 among IT professionals.
