IT Wise, the Sub-Saharan distributor for Packeteer, today announced the latter is celebrating its tenth year in business since its formation in 1996.
Acknowledged by Gartner Dataquest and International Data Corporation as the undisputed market share leader in the WAN optimisation market, Packeteer has now shipped over 50 000 PacketShapers to more than 7 000 customers worldwide. The company has reached this significant milestone after posting record-breaking revenues in the fourth quarter of 2005.
In its 21 March 2006 market share research report by Joe Skorupa entitled Market Share: Application Acceleration Equipment, Worldwide, 4Q05 and 2005, Gartner Dataquest reported that "Packeteer staged a strong recovery in 4Q05, regaining the top spot and an 18.7% share of the [WAN optimisation controller] market. It also finished the year in the top slot, with an overall share of 17.5%."
