Palladium Accounting comes of age with the imminent introduction of multi-bin locations, which will allow for the assignment, storage and distribution of a single inventory item in multiple bin locations within a warehouse.
The ability to strategically store and pick stock is a critical component in warehouse optimisation. "Efficiency is key to warehouse profitability; simple adjustments such as where inventory is stored can result in significant boosts to profitability," says Stephen Corrigan, MD of Palladium Business Solutions.
With the new multi-bin function, Palladium allows businesses to easily split inventory items across multiple bins to increase efficiency when picking items and to also make the best use of storage space so there are no honeycombs. Practically, this means if you receive a six-month delivery of inventory, you can allocate a working quantity to bins at the front of the warehouse and allocate the bulk to bins at the back, freeing up space and making it faster to pick stock. "Up until now, multi-bin locations has been a feature limited to high-end ERP solutions. At Palladium, we are continually adding features like this so that businesses of any size and any budget can afford to use these business-critical features."
Developing a more efficient warehouse is critical to the bottom line, saving time through strategically placed stock and storage, ultimately allowing workers to complete tasks faster and to do more in a day. Not only does this lead to increased operational efficiency through faster turnaround times, it also impacts turnover and speeds up billing. With Palladium's multi-bin location module, users will have unparalleled control over inventory.
They will be able to:
* Set maximum capacity for bins;
* Perform on-the-fly bin transfers;
* Choose bins to pick stock from at the point of creating a sales order;
* Receive items to quarantine or checking bins;
* Perform cyclical stock takes by bin location; and
* Restrict or allow stock form being stored in particular bins from a safety and security point of view.
This multi-bin functionality is complemented by Palladium's new Mobile Warehouse Management System (WMS) application, which is an Android application suite compatible with the Zebra hand-held scanners. "Warehouse staff need to be equipped with accurate data; mobile applications and devices are the best way to empower them with information and the tools for them to work more efficiently."
The application will allow users to process GRVs, pick pickets, perform stock takes, process bin and warehouse transfers, as well as process customer deliveries from the same application. This will make Palladium one of the few ERP solutions on the market to offer its own ERP, warehouse management software and an integrated mobile application without any other third-party integrations.
"Our direction in selecting the platform and range of scanners was facilitated through our new parent company Rectron, who are experts in the hardware market, and believe that this is the first of many synergies we plan to harvest from the relationship," adds Corrigan.
The multi-bin locations and the warehouse management system will be included in the upcoming new edition of Palladium Accounting, the Palladium Premium Edition. Palladium Premium boasts other essential business features like POD management and trade creditor recons, and brings together advanced ERP functionality in one, cost-effective solution that integrates critical operational functionality in the same system used to manage financials, inventory, warehousing and distribution, for enhanced data security, better reporting and improved efficiency.
"At the end of the day, our customers will enjoy one port of call for their entire business software requirements," concludes Corrigan.
