Panda Internet Security 2008, Panda's integrated security suite, has been warmly received by technology writers, with its MegaDetection security model in particular receiving considerable praise.
"Panda's MegaDetection made a clean sweep: a perfect 10 out of 10. It successfully removed the essential executable files for every single one of the malware samples," highlights PC Magazine in its review of Panda Internet Security 2008.
The magazine also indicates that: "When I tried installing the same set of samples on a clean system, Panda destroyed 80% of them the moment I clicked on them, and it blocked the others sometime during the install process. Another perfect 10!" PC Magazine concludes: "MegaDetection is a winner!"
The British computer magazine PC Advisor has the following to say about Panda's suite: "The main change is 'MegaDetection', which means that the Panda Internet Security 2008 engine now includes the much-praised technology employed by Panda's TotalScan online version. The effect of this is noticeable almost immediately. Even in its pre-installation scan, the software picked out and vanquished over 57 threats on our test PC. Once fully installed, it detected and removed everything we could throw at it."
The huge improvement in malware detection and removal provided by MegaDetection is not the only aspect highlighted by publications. The US magazine GCN gave top ratings in performance, scan speed and ease of use, and designated it "Reviewer's Choice".
PC Advisor says the following about the Panda suite features: "The anti-virus facilities and firewall are still the main selling points for any security package. And here, Panda looks fantastic. Its detection rates are high, its firewall is wonderfully unobtrusive, and these aspects of the software work like a dream."
