Addressing the employees after the announcement on 4 October 2012 that Parsec had won a Deloitte Best Company to Work For 2012 award, Petrus Pelser, Managing Director of Parsec, said: “The results of the Deloitte Best Company to Work For Survey 2012 were announced this morning, during an award function in the ballroom of the Montecasino, Fourways, Johannesburg.
I am quite proud to announce that Parsec was awarded the first prize as Best Company to Work For 2012 in the Manufacturing Industry category.
Parsec was also recognised as one of the Standard of Excellence Achievers, which implies we achieved above the Deloitte excellence threshold of 3.7 for 2012.
I want to congratulate you all for your contribution to this achievement. It was very clear that the award is based on what you as employees entered during the survey, and I want to thank all of you for the acknowledgement that you gave to what we as a company are trying to achieve, be it as management, towards our co-workers, or ourselves.
Parsec entered the 2012 BCTWF with the aim of learning, and to put ourselves on a path of continuous improvement. We have set a high standard and must now continue to raise the bar.”
In the words of Vince Lombardi: “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
During the run-up to the competition, David Conradie, Human Capital Director at Deloitte, said: “What has become abundantly clear from the data generated by the Best Company to Work For Survey is that having a talent strategy in place with supporting policies and procedures does not guarantee that an organisation will be experienced and recognised by its employees as an employer of choice. The existence of these alone is not enough. Unless they are aligned with the needs and expectations of the workforce and are understandable, accessible to all, and perhaps most importantly, executed appropriately and consistently by the organisation's leaders at all levels, the road to recovery is likely to be a rocky one.”
Parsec took on the challenge to evaluate itself and is humbled by the experience of winning the accolade.
