Pastel announces VAR of the year

Johannesburg, 02 Apr 2003

Cape Town headquartered accounting, design and IT systems solutions provider McLachlan Anderson & Associates (McA) has won a R25 000 overseas trip as Softline Pastel's 2002 VAR (value-added reseller) of the year.

Softline Pastel channel manager Jacqui Bekker said the award had been based on points accumulated by VARs and dealers in a channel loyalty programme. "It was a close call, with very little separating the top three."

Another Cape Town company, Rousseau Consulting, was second and Compu-Man of Johannesburg was third.

Formed in 1990 by Steve Anderson and Trevor McLachlan, McA identified and targeted the small to medium business market for systems involving accounting, design and IT solutions.

"We chose Pastel as the accounting package provider and then proceeded to add value by devising and implementing solutions that met management needs and that were critical to business owners in terms of providing them with quick access to financial information essential to the decision-making process," said Anderson.

McA employs eight full-time personnel, has a number of part time consultants and a business association with LPF Systems, an organisation responsible for the ongoing maintenance and continuing development of McA products.

"We thrive on the day-to-day demands of an IT industry in which timeous and ongoing service is paramount," added Anderson. "We believe in business by partnership and in developing lasting relationships with clients on a personal level. This, alongside loyal and committed staff, has been the key to our success."

While McA has its head office and support structure in Cape Town, it has opened a Johannesburg office under Steve Anderson and is fast developing a new customer base for its range of McA solutions.
