Pastel My Paycheck Online pays employees anywhere, anytime

Johannesburg, 20 Aug 2009

A new online software application, launched by payroll software developer Softline Pastel Payroll, enables employees to be paid at any time from anywhere in the world. All that is required is an Internet connection.

Known as Pastel My Paycheck Online, the software solution is aimed at start-up businesses and small companies. The software is simply structured and uncomplicated. It also ensures that users pay their employees in full accordance with the minimum requirements of South African employee tax legislation.

Pastel My Paycheck Online will produce payslips and make the payments in just four simple steps. Users don't need any payroll qualification whatsoever and Pastel Payroll's online R&D manager, Ashveer Rajcoomar, says plain language ensures easy navigation. “Simplicity was the key element in the development of the software. The recording of leave, for example, is done by ticking the days that employees have worked on an electronic calendar.”

As different customers have different needs and needs also vary from sector to sector, Pastel My Paycheck Online is available as software as a service (SaaS). The SaaS model is a hosted application made available to users as a service across the Internet, eliminating the need for users to install and run the program on their own desktop. It offers full data backup and the software is automatically updated and maintenance-free. Users simply log in to the service and use the features they have paid for. Everything is done online and there are no set-up or installation costs.

Rajcoomar says customers using the software do so with complete peace of mind that PAYE and Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) obligations and legalities are always met.

“Being browser-based, the software enables customers to process their payroll when it suits them and from anywhere that they have an Internet connection. This flexibility optimises the user's time, which is the Y-generation's most precious commodity. They are prepared to invest in products that offer convenience and are timesaving. It's all about working smarter, not harder.”

The online payroll solution is highly secure and client information is accessible only by the payroll user to ensure confidentiality. A secure payment gateway provides complete peace of mind by ensuring that credit card payments are completely confidential.

Four simple steps enable users to produce a payslip and pay their employees. Step one creates the company. Step two creates employees and their working hours. Step three sets up the payslip and step four makes the required payment and confirms it.

Employment contracts, tax reports and payslips are automatically created for employer and employee records. UIF returns and SARS tax registration forms are automatically populated with the information entered and can then be e-mailed directly to the UIF or SARS.

Pastel My Paycheck Online caters for daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly payment frequencies, and the online transactions can be printed out on plain paper or on secure, professional pre-printed payslips for employee records. It maintains a full electronic history for the company.

There is also a pre-defined employment contract based on the minimum requirements as defined by the Department of Labour, and the necessary application forms and information required to register with the UIF is also provided.

Last, but not least, Rajcoomar points out that as an online solution, Pastel My Paycheck Online is predominantly paperless, and therefore improves the “green” status of users by doing away with hard copy files.
