Pastel Premier midrange accounting software gets down to e-business

Pastel Software`s feature-rich Premier for Windows midrange accounting software package is now fully e-commerce enabled with connectivity to the established PlanetPastel.com Web portal.

"The `e-business` link to PlanetPastel.com adds further value to the Pastel Premier range and spearheads our objective of giving companies a competitive advantage through a business software solution that goes beyond accounting," says Stephen Corrigan, managing director of Pastel Software SA, a Softline company.

"E-commerce effectively reduces trade barriers and facilitates the selling and purchasing process. Companies can trade from virtually anywhere. Today, a wide range of business-to-business goods and services are quickly gaining ground on the Internet and hence our focus on providing companies with a simplistic solution for conducting business online."

"For the foreseeable future, the Internet and especially e-commerce will be a major influence on how business is conducted. In developing our accounting software, we have focussed on connectivity and integration with the Web.

"With the integration to PlanetPastel.com (www.planetpastel.com http://www.planetpastel.com/), Pastel Premier`s e-commerce offering complements the traditional `bricks and mortar` business, giving Pastel Premier users the ability to allow their customers to place their orders online, at their leisure." says Corrigan.

The integration between the online store and the accounting package is two-way, ensuring that critical business elements such as customer-specific prices and volume discounts per customer are automatically carried through from the accounting package to the e-commerce store. This means that when a customer enters an order in the electronic store, it will display that customer`s prices, just as if the order was being processed directly into the accounting package."

Corrigan believes the accounting benefits of full two-way integration into the accounting package are substantial. Users don`t have to recapture orders placed via their electronic store. At any time they can synchronise with their site by connecting to the Internet and pushing a button. This imports directly into the accounting software all orders from the web, in the form of a sales order, and exports directly to the store, details of new items, customers, prices and so on.

Premecom two

Corrigan adds that doing business on the Internet via an e-commerce enabled accounting package such as Pastel Premier holds many benefits from a financial management viewpoint: "Not only is there a considerable reduction of duplication as orders placed online are downloaded into the accounting software package, but the margin for error is greatly reduced, as customers not only confirm quantity and price, but they also ensure that the correct product is ordered thanks to an extended description as well as the aid of a graphical image.

"We believe that our e-commerce solution is unique. Users of our software simply select their customers and inventory items with which they wish to trade online, perform limited housekeeping functions, and simply populate their online store at the push of a button. In summary, it is e-commerce for dummies."

Pastel Premier for Windows is a powerful, modular-based solution for medium to large businesses, particularly well-suited to manufacturing operations. Features include full online real-time processing, comprehensive serial/lot number tracking, multiple stores, the ability to buy and sell in different units of measure, powerful reporting capabilities as well as the ability to e-mail all reports, customer and supplier documents, such as quotations, invoices and statements.

"The package also offers a multi-company, multi-branch, and multi-departmental solution for an unlimited number of users and, because it is modular, affords businesses the opportunity to initially purchase only those modules required at the time, and to simply add functionality as the business grows," says Corrigan.

The Pastel Premier for Windows modules include General Ledger, Sales Order Entry, Invoicing and Sales Analysis, Customers, Inventory, Purchase Order Entry, Suppliers, Report Writer, System Module, Point-Of-Sale, Fixed Assets, Workshop, Bill of Materials, Job Costing, Production Planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP). It also boasts extremely powerful manufacturing capabilities in the Bill of Materials, Job Costing, Production Planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) modules, and offers a Workshop module designed for "non-repetitive" manufacturing-type environments. This Workshop module controls costing in a workshop or repair-type operation, schedules the repair of jobs and controls stock issues, labour costs and buyouts against specific jobs.
