An SME business software solution that integrates a suite of accounting, payroll, fixed asset management, customer relationship management and report generation software packages has been developed through co-operation between Equator Technologies, and two Softline companies, Pastel Software and Resolve.
Equator Technologies has a five-year agreement with Pastel for the sole rights to rent Pastel products in Africa outside of SA`s borders. A similar agreement is in place with Resolve, a specialist developer of CRM, workflow and helpdesk software.
The first user of the integrated business software solution is UUNet Africa, which operates in Kenya and Zambia. Equator Technologies is supplying UUNet Africa with a solution that includes Pastel Accounting V6, Pastel Payroll, Pastel Fixed Assets, Resolve CRM and Equator`s ASP-based Customer Relationship Manager.
Equator Chief Executive Officer Marco Moreira says the Resolve CRM package has been implemented in UUNet Africa`s sales, marketing, technical, finance and helpdesk departments. Equator Technologies has developed an ASP front-end of Resolve CRM, which pending the relevant development from Resolve, will be implemented as a working solution to existing Equator customers.
Moreira says the ability of Resolve to provide complete incident histories and track critical business processes such as the full sales cycle, technical system implementation and billing and payment processes gives users a host of competitive advantages in terms of business intelligence and information management.
"The fully integrated nature of the business solution means that information is transparent across all of the solution components. The Resolve program gives a single view of the whole organisation and its customers. All employees have access to this information so that they are all up to date on the status of each and every customer and supplier.
"All of the components will become web-enabled in the future so that we can take WAN technology to a new level with Borderless Accounting Solutions and an ASP application that allows an entire company, including branches and departments operating at widely separated localities, to all work on the same central database. It is also a more secure method of operation that protects mission-critical information."
Pastel Software is SA`s largest accounting and payroll software developer. A company in the JSE-listed Softline Limited group, Pastel has for more than a decade exported products to Africa, Europe, the US, Australia and Asia. Accounting software programs from Pastel are used by more than 150 000 companies operating in 40 countries. Resolve, also a Softline company, develops specialist CRM, workflow and helpdesk software and has distributors covering SA and sub-Saharan Africa.
