PayChoice suffers another breach

Payroll services provider PayChoice took its Web-based service offline for the second time in a month last week in response to yet another data breach caused by hackers, reports Washington Post.

Moorestown, New Jersey-based PayChoice provides direct payroll processing services and licenses its online employee payroll management product to at least 240 other payroll processing firms, serving 125 000 organisations.

On Thursday the company sent a notice to its customers saying it had once again closed onlineemployer.com - the portal for PayChoice's online payroll service - this time after some clients began noticing bogus employees being added to their payroll.

Convergys bags contacts worth $25m

Customer care and billing services provider Convergys has won contract renewals worth a combined $25 million for HR solutions from three unnamed large global companies in the services and technology industries, according to Trading Markets.

Under the five-year deal for the business services company, Convergys will continue to provide workforce management and HR administration services, including recruitment, on boarding, absence management, and leave administration, for more than 60 000 North American employees.

Under the two-year deal for an outsourced services industry client, Convergys will continue to provide benefits administration and support to almost 70 000 employees located in North America.

Essar considers a merger

The Essar group is considering a merger of Essar Information Technology Holdings (EITH), which provides common services operations across the group, with its BPO firm Aegis, says The Economic Times.

The diversified Essar group formed EITH three years ago to consolidate common functions such as finance and accounting (F&A), human resources (HR), and payroll to its business arms in steel, oil, shipping, power, telecom and .

The merger will help Aegis diversify into areas such F&A, HR and payroll, as well as bring industry-specific knowledge within the company. It will also help Aegis get a higher valuation when it goes public.
