Paymate intros business accounts

Paymate has introduced Paymate eBusiness accounts that allow Web site merchants and eBay customers to receive up to $10 000 per month, reports AuctionBytes.

The online payment service will waive the initial $30 monthly fee for customers who sign up or upgrade prior to 30 November.

Paymate can be used on merchants own Web sites as well as on eBay.com, TradeMe, and on several marketplaces in Australia, including eBay and OZtion.

Glyde simplifies used media marketplace

Glyde has introduced a Web site intended to make it simple for people to buy and sell used media products, states NYTimes.

The company, which will be challenging formidable giants like eBay and Amazon.com, is the brainchild of Simon Rothman, who worked at eBay from 1999 to 2005 and was the primary creator and executive in charge of its automotive site, eBay Motors.

Rothman says other e-commerce companies have made it too time-consuming and complex for sellers to list items and for shoppers to find what they want. To smooth such transactions, Glyde will, among other things, supply sellers with a stamped, pre-addressed envelope once their item has been bought.

Scam site shut down

RSA Security's research lab, AKA FraudAction, has shut down a scam involving reshipping and cash mules, says Computing.co.uk.

The firm says the scam involved a recruitment ad on a bogus Web site for a fake parcel delivery firm. Luckily, the Web site was so riddled with errors that most people who were lured to it got wise to the con.

RSA said that "candidates" were asked to send in their personal information as part of the application process. Apparently, 1 900 people fell for the ruse and lost sensitive personal information as a result.
