PayPal users in SA can now return any product, regardless of the reason, and get a refund of up to R400 for the shipping.
The digital payments company says it decided to introduce the service in the country after research showed South African consumers see free return shipping as a significant added value when making a decision whether to shop online.
The research revealed 71% of Internet users in SA would be more likely to start shopping online in the future if free return shipping was available, says PayPal.
"Since consumers can now buy almost everything from everywhere without leaving the house or office, it is not surprising they expect better service, safer payment options, the assurance that what they buy is what they will get, and an easy way to return items," says PayPal's regional director for Africa and Israel, Efi Dahan.
PayPal notes the return service can also be used by South African merchants.
According to PayPal, its refunded return service, which has already been launched in 33 countries, has proven to be the right solution to encourage consumers to fully enjoy the opportunities e-commerce offers.
