PC favoured over cellphone

An IBM survey has revealed that though Internet use on cellphones is growing, people still prefer personal computers when it comes to banking, reports Bizjournals.

The survey, which was conducted in the UK, US and China, revealed that consumers do not feel comfortable with cellphone banking and stock trading.

Industry leaders say the future availability of IP broadband and affordable prices will change the way companies, such as , do business with customers.

Africa Bank selects BankWorld software

African Banking Corporation (ABC) will roll out BankWorld software, a self-service platform from CR2, as part of its latest initiative to offer integrated financial services, says Networkworld.

With the software, ABC will manage its ATM, Internet, mobile and point-of-sale networks in Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The bank hopes to use the mobile platform to extend its customer reach by addressing the un-banked market and providing security through two-factor authentication and one-time passwords.

Alfabet rolls out planningIT

A European financial service provider has licensed Alfabet's planningIT for use in its Fixed Income Group's IT roadmap initiative, states TheOpenPress.

Initially, the bank will use Alfabet's planningIT to gain an overview of and depict a roadmap of the Fixed Income Group's current and planned initiatives, projects and their relation to the IT architecture.

The bank hopes that planningIT will enable it to strategically plan and manage its IT to realise its business goals.
