Leading retail and hospitality point of sale (PoS) distributor, PC-PoS and IT technology distributor, ACD (African Channel Distribution) have signed an agreement whereby ACD will actively promote and distribute the DigiPoS brand throughout Africa and the Indian Ocean islands (with the exception of SA and Zimbabwe).
Brett Stevens and Gavin Briant started ACD under a year ago; both are from Zimbabwe and bring to this new company many years of IT and IT export experience. ACD is already one of the few companies to be awarded the rights to distribute the IBM brand into the rest of Africa. Other notable hardware brands it works with include LG, Philips and APC and software brands include Veritas among others.
Although ACD is based in Johannesburg, it maintains warehouses in England and SA from where products can be sent to any part of Africa within 48 hours. ACD`s understanding of the African market has led the company to being very selective with the products it distributes. The company only handles respected brand names where quality and support infrastructure is assured.
It`s this philosophy that led to the venture with PC-PoS. Since inception some 10 years ago, PC-PoS has been a constant innovator of retail technology products in a very challenging market. A recent market survey conducted in the UK showed that PC-PoS was second to IBM when it came to volume shipments of ePoS terminals. This success was based largely on the DigiPoS range of retail systems and the company has expanded rapidly into the international market with subsidiaries across Europe, Middle East and Africa, the Pacific Rim and North America. To date PC-PoS, has sold over 35 000 systems worldwide and some of the larger South African contract wins include those with Clicks, Vodacom and CNA.
PC-PoS has a strong R&D team based in the Far East which understands the need to constantly enhance and innovate the system specifications for the ever-changing and very demanding retail market. Among these DigiPoS innovations is a unique Jetsteam cooling technology which disperses heat away from the main processor, allowing the system to run more efficiently in hot temperatures. Close control over production allows PC-PoS to stabilise the system bios and motherboard revision. For a national retail chain, design consistency and stability are vital cost of ownership benefits and PC-PoS guarantees at least six months` notice before introducing new technology in a controlled and structured manner.
PC-PoS Incorporated is the appointed global distributor of some leading PoS peripheral brands, including Epson and Metrologic. It is this mix that gives the company a unique ability to customise solutions to meet the various needs of individual retailers. Coupled to this, the DigiPoS brand offers the end-user a robust solution with sensible features backed up by a dedicated service team, which makes it perfectly suited to the rigors and demands of the distinctive African market.
PC-PoS and ACD believe in the long-term future of the African market, and building on the achievements of the DigiPoS brand in SA, and look forward to a strong and successful partnership.
