Pentaho embeds intelligence
Open-source software maker Pentaho has begun to distribute a version of its business intelligence (BI) suite that allows developers to embed into applications, according to the company, reports SD Times.
Pentaho BI Suite Version 3.5 has an updated report designer that uses a unified file format that contains all resources, layouts and components required to render a report.
"It provides a standard process for formatting reports. It can be done without switching between interfaces," says Lance Walter, senior vice-president of marketing. The reporting capability can be integrated into business applications because it is delivered as a set of Java libraries, he adds.
MindTouch intros wiki for enterprises
MindTouch has released a packaged solution to help companies open their product and company documentation to contribution from outside users while protecting companies from spam and other security threats, states eWeek.
A sort of Wikipedia for enterprises, the MindTouch Collaborative Knowledge Base lets businesses allow customers or partners with little or no technical savvy to co-edit reference guides, tutorials, FAQs, files, images or videos.
The wiki environment, based on the MindTouch 2009 open source collaboration platform, includes controls for editors to accept and reject contributions, along with word blacklist, video editing, and user or IP blocking and banning.
Trend Micro offers threat intelligence
Security vendor Trend Micro has unveiled a new Web gateway solution designed to offer firms comprehensive URL filtering, zero-hour attack protection and leading anti-malware technology to clean, delete and quarantine infected content, says Computing.co.uk.
The Web gateway security solution integrates Trend Micro's InterScan Web security virtual appliance 5.0 product with its new Advanced Reporting and Management module and is powered by the firm's cloud-based Smart Protection Network for up-to-the-minute threat intelligence, says the firm.
The Advanced Reporting and Management module has been designed to give IT managers greater insight into employee behaviour on the Web, through dashboards, real-time monitoring, drill-down reporting and user activity analysis.
