PeopleSoft in deal with UCT

Johannesburg, 04 Jul 2003

PeopleSoft, whose products are distributed locally by activ8, has reported better than expected preliminary second-quarter results. At the same time, it has announced a deal with the University of Cape Town.

The preliminary results for the June quarter indicate that licence revenue is expected to be $105 million to $115 million, with total revenue in the range of $490 million to $500 million.

Earnings per share from recurring operations is expected to be $0.13 to $0.14, compared with the company`s original forecast of $0.11 to $0.12 a share.

"This morning we announced that against all odds and odds makers, under the most challenging conditions a company can face, PeopleSoft not only met but significantly exceeded our original financial guidance," says PeopleSoft president and CEO Craig Conway.

The final results are to be released later this month.

Meanwhile, the University of Cape Town (UCT) has licensed PeopleSoft`s Student Administration solution for its 18 000 students, becoming the second local university in as many months to license higher solutions from activ8.

Last month the company announced a similar deal with the University of the Free State.

"We are very pleased with the success of our local ," says activ8 MD Paul Mather. "We have major focus on providing solutions to the higher education sector and it`s working."

UCT has licensed PeopleSoft Student Administration and Enterprise Portal, which will integrate into its current human resources management system and financial applications.
