US-based PeopleSoft has launched a new business unit to lead PeopleSoft MarketPlace, a comprehensive business-to-business commerce site enabling trade between employees, customers, and suppliers of a wide variety of goods and services. The new unit will be headed by former Oracle Corporation executive Kerry Lamson, who will lead development, strategy, sales, and marketing for PeopleSoft`s business-to-business eCommerce initiatives.
"The new business unit will further strengthen PeopleSoft`s push into the explosive B2B market," says Craig Conway, president and CEO of PeopleSoft. "The unit builds on PeopleSoft`s deep understanding of business processes, proven successes in eBusiness applications, and consulting expertise."
"PeopleSoft has reinvented itself to focus on eBusiness applications and the Internet," comments Jan Coetzee, managing director of PeopleSoft South Africa. "PeopleSoft`s current assets include an array of eBusiness applications, powerful technology in the new PeopleSoft Internet Architecture, deep consulting resources, and a blue-chip customer base that is eager to embrace B2B e-commerce from a single provider."
The PeopleSoft MarketPlace unit presently has more than 200 dedicated development, sales, and marketing employees. These resources are complemented by over 150 PeopleSoft consultants trained and experienced in eBusiness implementations. The site, http://www.marketplace@peoplesoft.com, is powered by the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture, an XML-based open integration platform. Future services include direct procurement, resource management, benefits, travel and expense, recruiting, and other marketplace services.
