PeopleSoft wireless e-commerce solution delivers real-time access to customers

Cybex, a manufacturer of fitness equipment, has implemented the latest wireless eCommerce solution from PeopleSoft, called eStore. The solution gives its mobile users real-time access to information on the status of their customer orders, therefore boosting response times and improving their customer relationships and customer service.

"PeopleSoft eStore`s wireless functionality has extended our supply chain to the field," says Brian Lyman, eCommerce manager at Cybex. "A sales force with wireless access to customer and order information has enabled us to market, sell, and build customer relationships in real-time this is what it means to be a true eBusiness."

PeopleSoft eStore is an eBusiness application that allows mobile sales professionals to obtain pricing, inventory, availability, and order fulfillment, as well as order, shipment and delivery status, in real time.

Wireless access to PeopleSoft eStore can dramatically improve an organisation`s responsiveness to customers. For example, explains Jan Coetzee, MD of PeopleSoft South Africa, a sales person out of the office can use a cellphone to check the status of a product ordered for a customer, and relay that information back to the customer, at a fraction of the time it takes to log on to a computer.

"In addition, he says, "the mobile user can access a wide range of order status information, including order number, date created, product ID, product description, shipment number, and carrier used, among other data."

Developed for business-to-consumer and business-to-business e-commerce, PeopleSoft eStore is accessible on most wireless devices, including cell phones and the Palm Computing platform. PeopleSoft eStore integrates seamlessly with PeopleSoft Supply Chain software and its integration with the fulfilment system is unique among Web commerce applications. PeopleSoft eStore`s wireless functionality will fully leverage the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture. The pure Internet, server-centric architecture eliminates the need for client software, enabling easy access to PeopleSoft eBusiness applications from any platform supporting a Web browser, such as cell phones and Internet appliances, as well as UNIX, Linux, Windows, and Macintosh terminals.
