Bytes Document Solutions (BDS), the authorised Xerox distributor in 26 sub-Saharan African countries and a division of Bytes Technology Group, has announced the appointment of Perry Hurri as the new Financial Director with immediate effect. BDS is the largest Xerox distributor in the world and the biggest contributor to Bytes, with revenues in excess of R1.8 billion.

Hurri joined BDS in 1974 and has held positions in services support as well as finance. He has more than 30 years' financial management experience in key positions in the business, namely Financial Planning/Analysis Manager and Financial Manager. He has accumulated an intimate understanding of all areas of the business and has strong relationships with partner companies. He has also won a number of awards from BDS, including the MD's award in 1990 and the Fintech Chairman's award in 1996.

In his role as Financial Director, Hurri will be responsible for driving the company's financial strategy and managing risk for BDS both locally and across Africa. He will continue to work closely with the business operations to further strengthen the relationships with Xerox and the Altron Group. He will also maintain a focus on enhancing channel partnerships to ensure maximum benefit is derived for both.

Hurri is taking over from Johan Basson, who was recently appointed as BDS CEO. Says Basson: "Perry has an exceptional record and we believe that his knowledge of the company and the industry will be very beneficial to the finance department. I am confident that he will continue to manage Bytes Document Solutions' finances in a way that will assist the company to deliver on its promises and reach its goals."

Hurri is married and has three children, of which the eldest is a doctor, the second is writing his CTA Honours and the youngest is doing her final year LLB at Wits University. He enjoys going to gym on a regular basis and being a cricket spectator.
