With the current need for seasoned IT professionals in many companies, customers continue to look to PGP Security to provide solutions that save both on employee time and overall business costs. The increased functionali ty of Gauntlet 6.0 is a direct result of PGP Security`s commitment to responding to evolving market needs with inter-operable solutions that ensure system costs are kept to a minimum.
"Gauntlet 6.0 software offers customers a safe, flexible and secure solution, complete with the scalability required to meet the evolving business needs of the Internet economy," continues Wood. The core of PGP Security`s firewall and VPN management is the global enterprise management system (GEMS), a secure user-friendly, point-and-clic k Java application that manages firewalls and VPNs from a variety of systems, including Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 32 and Unix operating systems. GEMS has the capability to manage up to 500 different firewall and VPN applications and is the only firewall and VPN manager that includes a management Application Protocol Interface (API), placing the power of defining management in the hands of administrators. The API enables administrators to modify how the product is managed, for example specifying how logs are processed and saved.
Gauntlet Firewall is bundled with ICSA IPsec certified Gauntlet VPN product, providing interoperability with all IPsec certified products on the market today for easy integration into any existing network infrastruct ure.20
Gauntlet VPN software is one of the first commercially available VPNs to include a virtual client identity to ease authentication and access for remote users. The virtual client identity assigns remote users an internal IP address that allows them to access resources as if they are onsite, eliminating common access privilege problems for remote users.
Gauntlet Firewall is the only firewall software on the market to support four methods of data inspection as it passes through the firewall: packet filtering, packet screening with or without state monitoring, adaptive proxies and application proxies. The firewall allows administrators the freedom to choose how they want to set up their data inspection, giving them choice among high data throughput, high security, or a combination of the two. These methods of data inspection provide more flexibility than any other firewall on the market today when it comes to designing and implementing a network security policy.
