Philips adds mobility to its SOPHO IPK communication platform

Royal Philips Electronics` business unit Business Communications (PBC), distributed locally by GijimaAst, has launched an advanced mobility solution for its SOPHO IPK communication platform for small and medium businesses (SMB).

By adding SOPHO Business Mobility DECT to existing or new installations, this communication platform can be converted into a powerful wireless system, increasing users` mobility and accessibility and allowing them to make decisions timely and on the spot.

The SOPHO Business Mobility DECT infrastructure is based on a newly developed in-switch controller board, enabling up to four base stations to be connected. By simply adding boards to the SOPHO IPK, the network can grow along with the needs of a customer.

Its built-in backbone automatically guarantees seamless handover between overlapping cells. Allowing a free choice of base stations with either 6 or 12 channels, low and high user density spots can be covered depending on customer needs. The base stations can be used indoor and outdoor. For outdoor use special housing is available. The current capacity of the infrastructure is 32 base stations and 40 DECT handsets.

PBC offers a wide range of powerful and elegant DECT handsets. The C244 is a compact business handset offering a rich set of features, including a graphical display, internal directory, menu programming and hands-free operation. The DECT handset model C944 offers even more features, such as a large graphic display, built-in vibrator, headset support, and the ability to send and receive alphanumeric messages.

The I600 is an industrial handset with its robustness and SOS key making it ideal for specialised environments. The complete range of SOPHO Business Terminals provide a handset for every type of user and can each also be used on other SOPHO communication platforms supporting SOPHO Business Mobility DECT or IP DECT network infrastructures.
