Electronics group Philips has built a "sound room" at Hi-Fi Corporation`s Woodmead branch.
Because Philips develops advanced technological innovations to stay ahead of its competitors, the products are often unfamiliar, said Philips SA CEO Ian Murdoch, speaking at the launch of the sound room.
"Many of our products are outside the realm of concept for customers; we need to be innovative in the way we market our products," explained Murdoch.
"Our products are very much experiential in nature, so it was necessary to create an environment where customers could test our products, and even compare them to our competitors to realise how advanced our products are."
The sound room will also demonstrate and allow users to experience future technology that is not yet available in SA, he stated.
"Our customers will be given the opportunity to experience first-hand some of the technology being used at next year`s FIFA World Cup. To show our commitment to SA - and to all soccer fans - the Hi-Fi Corporation sound room will showcase technology that has the capacity to ensure a viewing experience that is equal - if not better - to that of fans physically at the soccer stadiums."
