The local office of Philips Creative Display Solutions has announced the release of its ProScreen 4600 Impact and 4600 Endurance portable LCD projectors to secure a foothold in the marketing and training markets. "The new projectors are designed to meet different demands," says Nalini Singh-Hofer, CDS (Creative Display Solutions) product manager, at Philips. "The ProScreen 4600 Impact gives 30% brighter output for travelling, while the Endurance, with its 8000 hours running time, is better suited to boardroom and training applications." Both machines feature the UHP (Ultra-High Performance) lamp offering constant brightness. Unlike competitive projectors that use metal halide lamps, which gradually become dimmer with use, these show no perceptible loss over time. "These ultra-cool, ultra-bright, low-cost lamps offer up to 8000 hour lamp life with constant light output," explains Don Matthews, managing director of Solution Technologies, Philips LCD projector distributor. Another plus is the projector`s PC Graphic User Interface (GUI) enabling complete 360 degree control from a desk or laptop machine via a infra-red remote control trackball, an advantage when presenting in a crowded boardroom. The interface also offers display and audio controls, colour point adjustment, three personal preference settings and front/rear screen projection (horizontal mirror function) and is fully plug-and-play compatible regardless of operating system. The most significant feature of the projector range is the Limesco (LIne MEmory Scan COonverter) chip in the projector which provides full screen imaging of all computer resolutions (VGA up to SXGA). "Compression techniques used in other LCD projectors often results in a loss of data and poor picture quality," he says. "Limesco ensures no loss of information using its automatic multi-scan data input handling technology." Other features include line doubling for perfect video performance, a built-in loudspeaker for multi-media presentations and a low-noise fan.
