The local subsidiary of Dutch electronics giant Philips has launched the successors to its bSure range of compact projectors, the bSure 2 series.
Tyrone Young, marketing manager: monitors and LCD projectors at Philips, says the new range will be available with an extra 300 ANSI lumen in both SVGA and XGA versions. "With 1500 ANSI lumen, this series is the brightest in its category and is now suitable for more applications in the educational and business arenas," he says.
"The brightness of the bSure 2 projectors means they can now be used in larger classrooms and meeting rooms, even in full daylight with blinds open," says Young. "This is a major benefit in rooms that cannot be blacked out fully and it also helps the audience with note-taking."
With a noise level of between 28dB and 29dB, the bSure series offers a real advantage in confined meeting rooms and classrooms.
The series offers true-to-life colours and is supported by Philips technologies in both monitor and TV picture quality. "In addition to the brightness features, the bSure`s picture quality is enhanced by a technology called ColourTracking," says Young.
Both projectors have a host of features that add up to valuable long-term savings for cost conscious schools and businesses. With a life-time of 6 000 hours, the Philips UHP lamp, found in the bSure projectors, lasts up to three times as long as other lamps.
Philips has also researched the needs of schools and colleges and is aware of the high risk of theft. For this reason, the bSure series is equipped with SecurityMax, a high performance anti-theft system. "This includes a customised, non-erasable start-up screen to display identification, a special shut down process to prevent unauthorised use and SecurityMax warning stickers which act as a deterrent," says Young.
"With few buttons, on-touch operation and an intuitive on-screen interface, the system is really easy to use," he says. "This makes it well suited to schools and small businesses that have a high percentage of first-time users. There is less need for AV support, another important cost-saving factor."
