Edcon, Africa`s largest fashion retail group, recently finalised the purchase of the clothing chain Topic. Edcon selected PIC Solutions to assist with the data conversion of Topic`s portfolio onto its VisionPLUS system.
PIC Solutions was responsible for extracting all customers` account-level details and their statement history spanning six months, from the Topic VisionPLUS system, before this system was shut down for the last time.
With the assistance of both Topic and Edcon personnel, this process was successfully completed on time, allowing Edcon to complete a very smooth and successful transfer of Topic account-holder information to its own systems.
Ian Wood, Group Financial Services Executive at Edcon, states: "A focused project team consisting of internal Edcon personnel to specify business requirements, and a combination of Accenture technical resource and PIC Solutions specialists to manage the conversion of customer data between the two systems, enabled us to make a success of this project within the allocated time.
"We were very happy with how efficiently the conversion project was conducted and the success of the implementation. Business continued as usual and the customer was not inconvenienced in any way by this conversion."
Mike Crawley, Director of Software Services at PIC Solutions, adds: "This project had the potential to be highly visible to the Topic customers and was made more difficult by the aggressive time frames. The development and testing had to be right, on time, first time to ensure the success of the project. Our extensive experience of these types of conversion projects, coupled with the knowledge and skill of the Accenture team, worked well together, to ensure the solution was implemented successfully and on time."
