PIC Solutions will present at the 18th Triennial Conference of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS), hosted by the Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA).
This will be the first IFORS conference hosted on the African continent since the original conference held in 1957. The theme for this year's conference is 'Operational Research: developing communities, managing the connections amongst them'.
This conference will be held from 13 to 18 July at the Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton, South Africa. The conference aims to bring operational researchers from around the globe together to represent countries from all five continents, bringing the research, applications and perspectives of their areas to this truly international forum.
Margarete Bester, Consultant at PIC Solutions, will present at this year's conference. Bester is also the Western Cape Chairperson of the Operational Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA).
The presentation will focus on the application of mathematical models in the recovery environment. The mathematical models are used to maximise the recovered amount by optimising the placements of accounts in recovery. One PIC Solutions partner has developed a product that uses mathematical programming to optimise the placement of accounts with different agencies. The mathematical programming model takes into account the capacity of the respective agencies, the budget for legal fees and fixed distribution percentages.
