Pick `n Pay Home Shopping uses DataPro`s News Manager

Johannesburg, 17 Jun 2003

In what is regarded as a new trend when it comes to the production of newsletters, premier Internet service provider (ISP), DataPro, has been contracted to produce Pick `n Pay Home Shopping`s newsletter, which is regularly sent to more than 60 000 customers.

Carol Zeederberg, Icommerce Director at DataPro, said: "We met the needs of Pick `n Pay Home Shopping as the retailer required a full newsletter service. They were looking for a company to create, design and collate the newsletter as well as handle the e-mail from competitions and other marketing activities. It`s the ideal solution for delivering the latest news to their consumers in a fresh and innovative way. By offering this service we leave our clients to concentrate on the marketing message - and not on the detail."

Zeederberg said there is a growing need to meet companies` objectives of communicating regularly with clients in a professional and meaningful way. "Furthermore, there is a real need to profile a company`s database and understand customer requirements. The problem is that the time and resources spent on this is often not available.

"We now offer a full newsletter service. Rather than just selling the tools to create the newsletter, DataPro is also getting involved in the researching, writing or collating of the content for newsletters, as well as the design aspects. It`s all about creating a full service for clients," she said.

"More and more companies are looking to the Internet as the primary means of communication with clients. We have now signed up a number of clients who are distributing newsletters over the Internet, rather than going the traditional route of printing and posting. The costs of sending out 3 000 newsletters by using the traditional print and post method is more than R12 000, while it will cost approximately R1 000 using News Manager."

News Manager, launched last year, is a solution that enables companies to design and issue newsletters to a private distribution list. It can also be used for Web site design and maintenance.

News Manager is believed to be the first system of its kind to be launched in SA and cuts communications costs considerably.
