Pick Systems Africa, the developer of multi-user, multi-value database management system (DBMS) software, has announced its newest version of D3 ProPlus v.7.2, a server appliance product based on the Linux kernel.
"This product release is the latest version of the company`s component database server appliance product our customers have relied on for some 30 years," says Adrian Oxborrow, managing director of Pick Systems Africa.
"We have totally reengineered both the installation and configuration process for D3 ProPlus v.7.2 so that end-users can enjoy the benefits of an advanced DBMS without having to know anything about the operating system or the hardware hosting the application."
According to Oxborrow, Pick has been able to customize and optimize the Linux kernel by working with various device driver developers.
"This work has produced new and added functionality for many of the drivers we support. Based on this work, these developers will soon be providing this functionality back into the Linux community."

Pick Systems` D3 ProPlus v. 7.2 has many new enhancements besides new installation, configuration, and device sensing capabilities. These include network printing, network file access, major SQL server enhancements with added SQL scalar functions and enhancements to Picks` FlashBASIC programming language.
Pick`s D3 DBMS offers rapid economical application design, development and deployment with scalability from a single client to over 500 clients. Additional features include built-in B-trees, Proplus two true-compiled FlashBASIC language, Access Query Language (AQL) with speed and ease-of-use, unlimited views of information, business rule support, triggers, ODBC and SQL connectivity. D3 also offers direct APIs to Visual Basic and an HTML language tool, named FlashCONNECT that provides web based deployment and Java support.
