Pink Elephant launches ITIL software asset management

Johannesburg, 13 Dec 2007

Pink Elephant today announced the successful release of the ITIL Software Asset Management (SAM) Essentials course to the South African market, complementing the company`s range of internationally certified best practice accreditations.

The Software Asset Management Essentials course, as accredited by ISEB, has been delivered in two pilot stages since August 2007, with attendance at capacity and a 95% success rate achieved from the delegates.

"The uptake of the initial course offering is a clear indication of the need for knowledge in the Software Asset Management space in South Africa," says Neil Petford, Regional Director, "and evidence of the growing requirement on companies for good corporate governance and risk management in what is a typically difficult task."

Software Asset Management focuses on the management of an organisation`s software assets, including the management of the risks arising from the use of those assets. It is more demanding than managing hardware assets and, as such, the process is required to be greater in scope and more comprehensive. An organisation that can effectively manage the usage of their software licence assets stands to reap vast cost savings.

Building on the company`s ITIL pedigree, the launch of this course furthers Pink Elephant`s strategy of delivering best practice IT management education and consulting services to the market and adds to the portfolio of complementary, specialist education to the core ITIL life cycle.

Says Petford: "When we launched in South Africa three years ago, we made a statement to the market that we would introduce the broadest range of international best practice education, which up to that stage, had been lacking in the country. The introduction of the SAM course is a further example of our ongoing aim to develop on our ITIL, PRINCE2, COBIT and Helpdesk Institute product offering to the benefit of our customers."

Pink Elephant will be delivering the Software Asset Management Essentials course through its public schedule as well as at customer premises throughout 2008. For more information on Pink Elephant`s course offerings, please call 011 656-0020 or e-mail info.africa@pinkelephant.com.
