Pink Software announces 1 February release date for TurboCASH .seven

Johannesburg, 14 Jan 2003

Philip Copeman, managing director of Pink Software, announced in Cape Town that TurboCASH .seven, the latest version of the company`s entry-level accounting package, will ship on 1 February. The new version will be launched simultaneously in SA and the UK. TurboCASH .seven will include a point-of-sale module.

The system is currently completing beta testing and will be shipped to retail outlets before the end of the month.

The last year has seen TurboCASH dramatically increase its local market share by selling over 3 000 units. An upbeat Copeman believes that the .seven release will add significantly to TurboCASH`s competitiveness.

"We are redefining the way accounting packages are being sold. Previously entry-level accounting packages would be offered for thousands of rand. We now offer a free download from our Web site and an entry-level price of R342 for a full accounting system.

"Because of the high prices of accounting packages, there has been a high level of piracy in the South African market. By offering a data conversion, from major competitors, we have been able to convince many of the pirates to come in from the cold and take up an affordable solution."

Copeman is also pleased to enter the point-of-sale (POS) market. "This market is fragmented. We are coming out with the first 'plug-and-play system. That is, the till software is integrated back into the accounting package. There is no export or download of data, as the till information is automatically captured. We are starting off by concentrating on the niche retail market, by providing POS systems to shopkeepers. We have tested TurboCASH with the leading suppliers of barcode scanners, till drawers and 40-column till-slip printers. So for the first time users will be able to buy POS systems off the shelf at major retailers."
